Kaylee's New Quilt

I have finally finished Kaylee's quilt for her bed!!! Initially, I was going to do it for Christmas 2006 for her toddler bed, but never got around to finishing it. So, I made it my mission to finish it yesterday. My mom helped me finish it, and this time I did 90% of the work on it. So THANK YOU MOM for all your help and supervision!! I made MacKenzie a toddler bed size one when she was little to match her room too.

I was getting tired of layering all her other blankets for her bed...lol, cause she likes to sleep with a lot of them... and I needed to make a quilt because I couldn't find any bedding to match the wall border, and wall accessories in her room.

What I did was photocopy some of the pieces off the wall, and then I used a iron-on pencil and ironed on the pattern to squares of white cotton, and then embroidered each piece to match, getting the colors as close as possible to the ones on the wall. When I first decided to make the quilt full size vs a toddler bed size, I needed to find some material for the back that would be wide enough to hang over the bed. The only thing I found was fleece...which she absolutely LOVES!!! Its her favorite material out of anything. Even her favorite clothes are fleece. And of course she calls it Fleefy...lol...a combo of fleecy and fluffy.

She was with me when I bought the fleece, and she wanted to use it for her bed, before she even knew what I was buying it for. Kaylee is the type of kid that when she doesn't like something , she really doesn't like it and won't even use it. So I'm glad she liked the fleece before I even put it together with the top of the quilt.

Kaylee liked it, but her initial reaction was "its not purple"...(thats her favorite color).
Anyways, this is what it looks like!!! Enjoy..

This picture should be turned the right way around...lol, but blogger won't let me today

The fleece on the back

Kaylee cuddling with it on the couch this morning, and happy as ever that it is so soft.

Wow, look at all the hard work you did. It looks great even if I don't like the color pink I think it's great.
