What a post? Finally :)

Its definitely been awhile since I've been blogging, and even longer (since September to be exact) since I have scrapbooked last. This page came together very quickly. One of my favorite scrapbookers is Laura Vegas, whos style I absolutely love. Pictured below mine is a page she did, that I used for inspiration for MacKenzie's first day of preschool.

I hope to soon have some pictures of our new house to show, and some of the changes we have made. As well, hopefully an update soon, or another scrapbook page.

Gardening

When I seen this "radish" paper as I so call it...lol, from Basic Grey. I knew I had the perfect pictures to go with it. I also used the stickers that went with this particular line, as well as a couple of sheets of cardstock. The title I printed with the All Mixed Up Cricut cartridge. I'm pretty satisfied with th page. Kaylee was so excited that weekend to go out and help Grandpa plant his garden.

2 Weeks old

This is MacKenzie at 2 weeks old...she sat in her car seat a lot...lol We still weren't quite sure what to do with her...lol. This page is a scraplift from Pam . I actually used all older stuff from in my stash for once. Not that it is that old...I've just had it for awhile :) I'm happy with it. I found a way to incorporate some pink in her first year scrapbook. She didn't wear much pink or have that many pink things as a baby.

First Day Home

Here is another page for MacKenzie's album. I really wanted to journal the memory of how we brought her home, and some of our thoughts. I used my Cricut with the Home Accents cartridge for the title, and the snowflakes. The snowflakes are just white glittery paper from Just Scrap It. I also used some Frosted Lace Stickles to enhance the twigs around the edges of the paper to give it a more wintery feeling.

I remember the first day we brought MacKenzie home from the hospital. The journaling reads:

We will never forget the day we brought you home. On January 27/28, 2004 was one of the coldest days of the year. We came home in the late evening and the temperature was -50 with the wind chill. Our little car wouldn’t warm up enough to take you home, so your Grandma Marg borrowed us her car. Your Grandma and Grandpa Sherstobitoff met us at our apartment for your arrival.

We were so nervous about the cold weather that we covered you in several blankets. Then we were nervous that we put on too many and you wouldn’t be able to breathe. We drove home so slowly and carefully because of the cold and the slippery roads. It was so cold in our apartment that our neighbors lent us their space heaters to get it warmed up for you.

After we got you uncovered and we got settled. We both kind of looked at each other and asked “Now what?” We had no clue what life with a baby would be like exactly. And so begins our journey of learning and growing together.

Dressup at Grandma's

This page I did awhile ago, but I finally got a good picture for it. MacKenzie loves to dress up in her Grandma's shoes and hats. And they matched so well with her dress. So I thought I would re-share the finished page.

On the farm

While we were out at Rod and Linda's (Ricks Aaunt an Uncle's), the girls got to ride the horses.

Only the one horse, Flicka, is rideable. I was suprised when Rod just used bailer twine to lead the horse. Anyways, the girls had fun riding. They also got to feed all three horses some grass. I think I may add some sort of embelishment at the top right corner...but I am not sure what yet.

Sandcastles

Kaylee on the beach at Kipabiskau. She had a blast just filling up her pail with sand and then water. She tried dumping it a few times to make a sandcastle, but just wasn't really interested in building one. This page came together rather quickly for me. Its pretty simple, but I don't think it needs much more than that.

Inspiration

My new desk is proving itself to be inspirational. Rarely do I ever scrapbook my most recent pictures, but for some reason, these pictures just came together on a page for me. I went outside my comfort box on this page... I used tags and some lace paper which I rarely ever use. But I really like how it turned out.

MacKenzie got to hold a baby sheep at Rick's Aunt Linda and Uncle Rod's farm when we stopped in at their house for a visit.

A desk inspired page

Well, my new desk is working wonders for me so far. I pulled out my scrapbooking supplies to see how they would look on my table part of the desk...and what do you know...I created a page while sitting there. It just needs a title at the top....any ideas?

This is Kaylee and her Aunty Kim at Christmas 2005. I used some Basic Grey, some cardstock, a felt flower and button from the Creative Cafe selection, some ribbon I had, and some heart lace paper.

Wow...I've posted a lot this past week...looking forward to the comments to...hopefully most of you had a chance to read all that I posted this week. If this desk keeps it up, you will see some more pages coming soon. :)

Cricut Machine

One of my new favorite things.... the Home Accents Cricut cartridge. I bought this at Walmart the other day....$49.99 such an AWESOME deal. SOOO much cheaper than the ones at Michaels...which the last time I checked, they were $120.00 regular price. Walmart of course doesn't carry all of the selection that Michaels does...but they do carry about 10-12 that I seen. You will have to click on the picture to see closer what this all makes for shapes...if not, check their website to see. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE it... :)

Grandpa and Grandma

I have had such an itch for scrapbooking lately...probably because I've been so busy I really haven't had time to do it. People always want what they can't have hey...lol isn't that how the saying goes. But I did manage to find some time to do a couple of pages. I'm very happy with how both of these pages turned out. I can't wait for us to be on holidays so I can take a day for myself and scrapbook the entire day :)

This one is of Rick's Dad holding MacKenzie at the hospital not long after she was born. I love these two pictures so I had to use both of them. The one picture, you can see Rick's dad better in, and the other picture (if you look closer) MacKenzie is looking right at her Grandpa. I just love it!!

This one is Rick's Mom holding MacKenzie in the hosptial right after she was born. I really love the word page behind the picture. I still have to add a little journaling though...but I left a space for it.

More scrapbook pages

I've been on a roll scrapbooking lately again, so here are a few more pages for MacKenzie's 1st year album.

This page needs a title yet...which I think will say "3 Months" in brown at the bottom of the page. Or maybe some journaling...but I think just a title will satisfy me. This layout was inspired by Pam. Its slightly different than her layout, but its still pretty close to the same. I've been trying to take layouts that I like, and rather than completely copy them, I try and do something different, to accomodate my photos, titles or journaling that I want.

Scrapbooking

Now that my skills have increased considerably since I first started; I decided to redo MacKenzie's first year scrapbook album and include a lot more pictures, and
more journaling. This page I created while out at my Dads this past weekend. I used mostly Basic Grey paper, and co-ordinating chipboard stickers, random buttons, and a piece of Making Memories notebook paper. Here she is only a few hours old...just after the nurses put that stuff on their eyes.

Busy Weekend

We had a very busy weekend. On Thursday, Aidan came for a sleepover. I had to work that night, so Rick had to put all 3 kids to bed. He had a little trouble, as Aidan wanted to sleep in Kaylee's bed with her. Kaylee has a toddler size bed, so they don't fit really well to sleep. But Rick decided to let Aidan sleep in Kaylee's bed with her, and to my suprise, they actually fell asleep squished in that little bed. I wish he would have taken a picture, cause it would have been so cute. Rick moved Aidan onto his own bed after he fell asleep. Aidan slept in Kaylee's room. On Friday morning, I woke up at 6:00 am to two little people giggling away. Aidan and Kaylee were awake and playing in her room. I don't usually like to wake up that early in the morning, but I couldn't help having a huge smile on my face listening to the two of them giggle and play. It brought back so many memories from when I was little and had sleepovers. Needless to say, we had a huge nap friday afternoon.

Friday night, Kaylee went for a sleepover at Kim and Chris'. MacKenzie went for a sleepover at Rick's Mom's house. When Rick was done work, we started working on our back yard. When we first moved in, we had really tall weeds. Our neighbors cut the grass for us, but never picked it up. So the wet grass sat there over winter (cause we moved in the late fall) which caused the grass to pretty much die. Last year, we requested to get our yard redone, and it never happened. So this year, we actually got it done. We had to haul dirt, and lay the sod. It only took about 3 hours to get it all done from start to finish. And now, it looks great. Rick added some of his decor touches out there, and I can't wait till it starts to really grow so we can enjoy it. It looks so soft and fluffy. I'll post some pictures in a day or two of what it looked like before, and after. I didn't take any before pics, but there are a few pics of the girls in the back yard where you can see how it looked.

So Saturday, Rick worked, and we had community cleanup where we live. I helped lay sod in another person's yard. After lunch, we got the girls back, went for supper at the community center, and then Heather came to babysit. Rick and I went out to Alley Cats and watched the UFC fight.

This morning, I dropped the girls off at my Mom's, and her and my sister took the girls to see Walking with the Dinosaurs. The girls just loved it!! MacKenzie has always loved dinosaurs, and has several of them. So I can almost imagine what it would have been like for her to see the show. Kaylee even enjoyed it, even though she isn't as into the dinosaurs as MacKenzie is. It just got at little loud at the end of the show for Kaylee. MacKenzie's favorite dinosaur was the T-rex.

While the girls we out this afternoon, Rick finished up a few things in the yard, and cleaned out the storage room. I had a few things to do, and then I pulled out my scrapbooking stuff and created this:

I started an album for MacKenzie a long time ago, and I was never happy with my first pages I created. So, I am starting at the beginning and redoing her album. This page is finished except for some journaling about what was happening in this picture. I was in labour, contractions were about 1-2 minutes apart. I needed to get an IV put in, so they were going to get the supplies they needed for that. Rick didn't look too happy in this pictures, because he isn't to fond of needles, not even for getting an IV. This pic was taken about 230-300 pm, on the day that MacKenzie was born.

Most of my hospital pictures with MacKenzie have so much blue and grey in them. And Blue is usually a boy's type of color, so I'm hoping with the next few pages I do, I can add some flowers or something to make it a little bit girly with all the blue.

Gramma

Heather came over on monday night and we had a scrapbook date. We haven't talked, or seen much of each other at all since I started working, and since she works days and I work evenings, she came over for a scrabooking evening/visit.


This page is completely done, besides adding the picture. I however, don't have a picture to

co-ordinate with this page, so that will have to be arranged with gramma and one of the girls. The only picture I have that could work with this page is one with all the grandkids at easter, but I am hoping for a close up picture.

Another Page for Kaylee

I found this paper at Just Scrap It the other day...the one with all the words. It was a kind of green color. I thought, this would be perfect for some hospital pages, as it is so hard for me to find paper to match the colors of the hospital. The word BABY is also from that page, but I just cut out the letters. The picture was taken a few hours after Kaylee was born. Enjoy!!

Soccer Page and Meeting Dora

This is my most recent scrapbook page I am working on. This is from when MacKenzie played soccer last year. She wasn't too into it, but for the few momets she did get into the game, I got some pictures. This really isn't a good picture of the page...now that I am looking at it. I still have to add a few things...like a journaling box, and a title or date or something. So its almost done, so I'm happy about that.

This weekend we went to the Child and Family Expo. The girls got to meet Dora, and have their picture taken with her. The girls just couldn't wait to see her, they looked so forward to it all day. And she was so friendly. But I think she needs a longer T-shirt to cover her belly...LOL... and now MacKenzie would like to have a pink shirt and orange shorts just like her...hehe.

Easter Bunny Page

Here is another page I did today. It is almost completely finished. I figured it was done enough to post. The flowers at the bottom right corner just need to be painted, but I will paint those when I get different flowers to add on the middle left spot. I won't be using the blue and white flower that you see in the picture, I just needed it there to show the idea. I will co-ordinate both sets of flowers once I get some flowers to match my page. My stock of flowers is running low, so I'll need to restock soon, lol. Oh, and I may add a touch of journaling below the picture of Mackenzie and Kaylee. This was their picture with the Easter bunny this year. This one is for Kaylee's book. I have duplicates of my pictures, so I'll do another page with MacKenzie, with her pose with the bunny. Enjoy!

A few more pages

I finished this page tonight. I had the green papers and the black sheer ribbon mounted on the black background for awhile now, but wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the page. And then this idea came to me. And I am quite proud of myself..I didn't scraplift this page from anyone. I painted the chipboard flowers, and MacKenzie even helped me, she was so excited, and did a good job painting too!! I just love this picture of the girls. I love when they show affection for each other without having to be asked to do it! I still think this page is missing a little something, but not sure what, or where yet.

This is an older page I did. I made a book for Rick last year of all the reasons I loved him, and put pictures to over half of my list. I never did post the pages I did, so I'll show a few today while I'm thinking about it. I admire him so much for the hard work he does, and for the goals he has in terms of his job and what he wants to do, and be in his life. I also appreciate him going to work every day to support our family, and giving me the opportunity, and the greatest gift of all...to be a stay at home mom!! So Thank YOU Rick, for all you have given me, and all the hard work you do for you, and for our family!!

This picture was taken at Michael's Grad last year. Its a great picture of the three of them! Rick has an amazing brother and sister, each with such different qualities that make them such wonderful people to be around!! Love you guys!!
I have more pages to take pictures of, but I was getting tired of pulling them all out of the album. I'll hopefully take some more pictures tomorrow and post those pages for you all to see.
