Wedding Etiquette

Daisypath Ticker

So, as I was looking in the Sunday Sun last weekend under upcoming events, I found something called "Wedding Etiquette for Beginners". So I signed myself up. It was held last night at Paper Trails, which happens to be a scrapbooking store..yeah for me. Bliss Wedding Design put on the evening. They are wedding planners.

I learned a lot about wedding invitations, such as proper wording, postage, and putting together the invitations (which I barely knew anything about). I learned about seating arrangements, and the order people go in for the processional and recessional.

Someone there had a neat idea to do a picture guest/scrapbook. Its where as guests are coming into the reception, someone takes their picture, and they sign under the spot where their picture is going to go. (I wouldn't want to use a Polaroid camera because that would olook really tacky) (hehe I used the word tacky..lol). So anyways, I really liked that idea.

We also talked about the receiving line and when to have them and who all stands in it, and how to keep the people who talk too much to move on (haha, where do I fit in in that..I'll be the one in the receiving line, lol). We talked about speeches, like who gives them and how long they should be. I also did not know that if someone makes the toast to you, you don't stand, you don't raise your glass, or drink to the toast. You just sit there and smile. We also talked about thank you cards and when to send them and what to say in them.

There was a small social after and I visited and listened to other people's ideas. Someone said Picnics makes reasonably priced wedding cakes. I'll have to keep that in mind. I also found some things in the store I'm going to have to get for Mom and Heather. I can't say on here cause it would give it away to them, cause they also read this page.

All in all I had a great night and learned a few things. I had some ideas about making some pages for my wedding planning scrapbook. For example, putting programs, business cards, the newspaper ads, (memorabilia from the event)and a small blurb of each event on each page. The heading will either be a date or the title of the event. I am very excited to get going on this activity.

Funny Heather..I am not going to post it for you to figure out...lol. Good try though. That would be like me posting my wedding day surprise for Rick on here only for him to read it and find out what it is.

Hey,

We are doing a photo guest book at our wedding. Some of my friends from school are organizing it and my friend last year had one at her wedding. They are an amazing way to preserve the day because this way you know you will get a picture of every camera shy uncle.
